Location  

The Bald Head Island Ferry Landing is located at Indigo Plantation and Marina in Southport NC. Southport  is located 45 miles south of New Hanover International Airport and a 30-minute drive south of Wilmington, NC via Highways 17 and 133. The Myrtle Beach, SC Jetport and Grand Strand are a 60-minute drive south of the BHI ferry terminal via Highway 17 and 211. Interstate 40 and Highway 74/76 link the region directly with Interstate 95, providing access from points north, south, and west. 

Entering Southport on Route 211 South, turn right onto West 9th Street and follow to Indigo Plantation. The ferry terminal is at the end of Indigo Plantation Drive. Scheduled departure times are hourly, leaving the mainland every hour, on the hour, and returning from the Island every hour, on the half hour. Advance reservations are required and can be scheduled by calling the Indigo Plantation ferry ticket office at (910) 457-5003. Schedules may vary dependent on season so reservations should be confirmed 3 days in advance. Round-trip ferry tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children ages 3 through 12, free for children ages 2 and under. For same day round-trips originating from the Island, a discounted "no frills" ticket is available at the Bald Head Island ticket office on the island.  

Arrival & Parking

Upon arrival at the ferry landing, drive directly to the baggage area. Plan to arrive at least 30-minutes prior to the scheduled departure to allow time for unloading baggage and to purchase ferry tickets. Outfitters will be available to assist and answer questions. A daily  fee is charged for parking. When entering through the electronic gate, visitors will receive a dated ticket. They should keep this with them until they leave the Island, and then present it at the "B" Lot Parking Booth when disembarking at Indigo.
